This month I felt very lucky to be able to attend the Anita Lyn Workshop in Christchurch. The very talented Anita works in the North Island and it was her first trip down south in a teaching capacity. She is well known for her multitude of cool butterfly and floral designs and her zany sense of humour! A group of fellow Cantabrian artists and myself were able to get a heap of new ideas and techniques down while we practiced on each other and ourselves. New shading, detailing and one stroke ideas that you will see emerging in Colour-me-in designs in the months to come! Thanks Anita, a great workshop. |

This month I had the pleasure of twisting a bouquet of balloon roses for a very young client. Ayana is 3 years old and her heart and imagination have been captured by the royal visit to her hometown, Christchurch. The bouquet was a gift for Princess Catherine who, along with her handsome prince, met the locals on a walkabout in Latimer Square. The princess lived up to her reputation of being both beautiful and gracious, and on receiving the slightly unusual gift, said, "Are those for me? Thank you! They're very cool balloons." Her small royal subject now loves and admires her all the more! You can view a video of it on CNN by using the link below: |
